Since opening our doors in 2014, many people, some of you, have come alongside our ministry to provide biblical counseling to the Body of Christ and to the cities. In our counseling rooms we have heard some of the heaviest stories of abuse and betrayal as well as the most beautiful stories of redemption. In these past four years our ministry has grown beyond what we could have imagined. It has been our privilege to serve God’s people through counseling.
Last month we had to turn away 30 people because our counselors were full. We have an amazing team of 11 gifted and humble counselors. I have yet to spend one moment of marketing R:TC, and yet people learn about us. The most encouraging piece is how they learn about us. It is, more often than not, through past counselees who have been served by our ministry.
We also have potential counselors who want to join us. This might seem like a simple math problem that can fix itself. Hire more counselors to meet with more people in need, right? There are at least two factors that complicate the mathematical problem. First, in order to bring on more counselors we need more help to oversee counselors. My dream is to bring on at least two full-time counselors to help oversee our counseling and double our ability to serve counselees and equip the church. Second, we believe our counseling is only a piece of the greater care for a person. We want strugglers to experience the long-term care of the Body of Christ in a local church. But often churches are not equipped to consistently help strugglers with chronic issues. My dream is to grow our equipping ministry to help churches avoid common pitfalls which hinder growth for strugglers and equip them to wisely and effectively minister to those in need.
You can imagine that we find ourselves in quite a predicament. We want to help local churches and we want to raise up more counselors who are classroom and life-trained. Please join us as we pray for God to provide the resources needed for this next phase of R:TC. There are two ways you can support us—through prayer and financial giving. 25% of our ministry is underwritten by donations. Our remaining budgeted goal for 2018 is $10,000. If everyone who receives this letter responds with a $50 gift, our goal will be met. Please pray for us! And as I ask you for prayer, I am reminded of the privilege it is for us to pray for you—our prayers are an overflow of our thankfulness to God for you. How may we pray for you in this season? Please email me any prayer request at email@example.com and it would be an honor to pray for you.
